Adopt A Highway - Randall Road
From spring until fall, we participate in the Kane County Department of Transportations Adopt A Highway Program. We keep a section Randall Rd in Batavia clean from litter and debris. Look for our sign on the corner of Randall Rd and Main St.
On the third Tuesday of the month, Kiwanis members, along with members from the BHS Key Club, assist with Bingo Night at the Michaelson Health Center in Batavia. Volunteers assist residents with playing the game, handing out prizes and calling of the numbers.
CHIP-IN (Community Helpers Impacting People In Need) supports students in temporary or transitioning housing situations or who are facing the obstacles of poverty in Batavia. The Batavia Kiwanis Club assists this organization with various projects and tasks throughout the year. Some projects have included, assistance with buying snow boots and winter coats for children, donation of items to assist with after school programs, and packing fresh fruit and bread for the United Way Adopt A Family program.
Batavia's Retired Senior Volunteer Program is an organization that was established to help the senior citizens in our community. Multiple members continually support this organization and assist with giving rides to doctors appointments and other activities.
Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and Clothes Closet
Throughout the year members volunteer their time to assist with operations at the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet.
Feed My Starving Children
Throughout the year, dates are reserved for Kiwanis and Key Club members to attend a packing session at Feed My Starving Children in Aurora, IL, to provide meals to malnourished children around the world. They are sent to orphanages, schools, clinics, and feeding programs to break the cycle of poverty.
Northern Illinois Food Bank
Each year on Kiwanis One Day (April), the Batavia Kiwanis club joins forces with other clubs in Division 10 to volunteer at the Northern Illinois Food Bank in Geneva, IL. Various tasks have included removing labels and packing boxes.
Annual Spaghetti Dinner
Each year, in April, the Batavia Kiwanis hosts a dinner fundraiser to support Youth Service Programs throughout the Batavia community. Volunteers are always needed for set up/clean up, serving food, clearing tables, and more.
This annual Halloween themed family event includes downtown Trick Or Treating and games. Each year, we have a booth set up at this event and have treats and games for the community.
Salvation Army Bell Ringing
The first weekend in December, we assist with bell ringing at Jewel in Batavia.
